Jigawa State Government is set to partner with National Research Institute for
Chemical Technology, NARICT, Zaria, in the areas of fertilizer and tomato
processing.
The State Governor, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, gave the hint shortly after an inspection visit to the Institute.
He explained that his administration is focusing on agriculture as it is the only sector that will make people to be self reliant.
Abubakar said he was impressed with the level of innovation and commitment of the Institute, saying that the state would not be left behind in tapping the scientific research of the Institution.
He called on the institution to focus on competitive scientific research that will guarantee sustainability.
The governor inspected tomato processing factory at Makarfi and fertilizer factory in Zaria which both are using locally machines and materials.
The acting Director General of the Institute, Prof. Muhammad Yakubu, who commended the governor on the visit, said that the Institute was also ready to partner with the state in order to achieve the desired goals set by the governor.
