In view of the wave of global recognition the Nigerian agricultural transformation has garnered due to the visible short-term dividends, the President of the West Agro Input Dealers Association, WAIDA, Alhaji Olayinka Akinmade has affirmed the sustainability potential of the transformation agenda of the present administration. In an exclusive chat with National Mirror during a Seed Market Sensitisation and Educational Enlightenment Programme to rid Market of Spurious Seed Dealers, organized by the National Agricultural seeds Council, NASC in Ibadan recently, Akinmade said the rate at which youths ventured into agriculture currently indicated the sustainable improvement and innovation in the sector. According to him, the agricultural sector of the nation has moved far above the ground point and has fostered a good platform for the building of a progressive relationship among the government, farmers and the youths. He said, “You don’t need to be told that agricultural transformation in the country is real, the youths today are already in agriculture and they are being backed up by the government.”

Corroborating the above statement, the Nigeria Agriculture Awards Nagropreneur of the year 2014, Adeniyi Adedeji Adenuga described the innovation in agriculture as enormous, stating that the sector is now opened to the youths, who continuously show interest in agriculture. He however, commented that those who currently look down on agriculture would eventually seek to join them when they have attained major success in the sector. He said, “When we are successful, those that look down on agriculture will see for themselves and come into it because it is not just a developmental sector anymore but a business.”
